Description:

After more than ten years of its adoption, there are several developments regarding the UNGPs on Business and Human Rights (BHR) within several countries, including Germany and Indonesia.  Germany recently released the German Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (also known as the Supply Chain Act) on July 16, 2021.  On the other hand, Indonesia published Presidential Decree No. 60 Year 2023 on the National Strategy on Business and Human Rights.  These recent developments on business and human rights in each country differ, which raises questions and concerns about their implementation in practice.  This webinar will specifically discuss the implications on the recent BHR policies in Germany and Indonesia in relations to the growing concern about the nickel industry in Indonesia.
