Contours of Inequality: Power, Protest, and Privilege in Southeast Asia

Date: August 12–14, 2026
Place: Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII), Depok, West Java

The Institute for Advanced Research (IFAR) at UIII proudly announces the inaugural IFAR Consortium Annual Conference 2026 — an international platform to explore the contours of inequality shaping Southeast Asia today.

We invite scholars and researchers to submit papers and panels that critically engage with our conference theme, encompassing — but not limited to — the following areas:

  1. State-building, economic development, and inequality
  2. Economic policies, globalization, and inequality
  3. State power, identity, marginality, and inequality
  4. Climate, resource politics, and inequality
  5. Technology, artificial intelligence, and inequality
  6. Consequences of political and economic inequality

Join us in Depok for three days of vibrant exchange, critical reflection, and cross-disciplinary dialogue on how power, protest, and privilege shape the region’s political, social, and economic landscapes.
